Hey! I'm Austin and that's the earliest memory I have of holding a camera. 8 years old and bored in the middle of a field at my little sisters soccer game. Thankfully my Mom had a Nikon N75 and let me go take pictures of dandelions to entertain myself.
Fast-forward 13 years and I'm 3/4 of the way through a film degree at Keene State College (I opted for film instead of photo because I wanted to make action sports movies and work for RedBull, plus everybody told me that you can't make a living as a photographer) and I just picked up a Canon t2i. My intention was to use this exclusively as a video camera (this was the breakout of the DSLR) but I couldn't fight the urge to shoot photos. This camera came everywhere with me. Skiing, bonfires, friend's houses for dinner. I couldn't stop documenting the world around me.
Now, 24 years after that elementary soccer game, my camera has taken me all over the world. Black sand beaches of Iceland. Check. 14,000ft volcanic lake in Ecuador. Check. Countless nights under star-filled skies. Check. Hundreds of weddings where I get to capture the happiest day of somebodies life. Double check. I am eternally thankful to this craft and for the journey that those first out of focus dandelion pictures put me on.
